Frequently Asked Questions

What will I hear on The Magic 756 live stream?
Our live stream broadcasts The Magic 756 as it is heard on 756AM in Mid Wales, with a great mix of classic hits, chart music, specialist shows, competitions, news and local information.

I live outside the UK - can I listen to the stream?
Unfortunately current PPL rules prevent us from allowing people outside the UK to listen to our station. This is the case for most UK based radio stations.

What is the sound quality like?
The sound quality of our stream should be a great improvement over AM reception - in fact it should sound similar to FM reception. We have, however, kept the 'bit rate' of the stream low enough to allow dial-up users to tune in, by using the latest compression technology.

The stream is skipping, 'buffering' or disconnecting - what can I do to improve reception?
Users on dial-up may experience this if their connection is of a low speed, or if they attempt to use the connection for other purposes while listening. Broadband users shouldn't usually experience these symptoms, however occasional network congestion during peak times, or ISP problems, may cause connection issues.

I get a message that says: "Please enter your postcode to validate that you are within the UK". Why is this?
Due to licensing restrictions, we are required to prevent access to our stream from outside the UK. To do this, we use 'geo-blocking by IP address' which predicts where you reside based on the IP address provided to you by your Internet Provider. If you are in the UK and receive this message, it is likely that you access the Internet via an international provider such as AOL or Orange. Please enter your postcode to let us know that you are in the UK. We don't store this information or have access to it - it is used solely to validate your location. If you have cookies enabled, you will only be required to do this once - we won't ask you again for one year.
